Horse packing trip in the Rocky Mountains – Canada 1998

One never forgets his first travel to the Rocky Mountains and certainly not his first (even friendly) bear encounter! In the Willmore Wilderness Park we experienced the spectacular high mountain passes, pristine meadows filled with vibrant flowers and trails ridden long ago and virtually unchanged since the days of the early explorers.

Alberta is still pretty much ‘cowboy country’. We quickly learned that the black hat is the working hat, the white one if for going ‘downtown’ on a Saturday evening.

Preparing for this Rocky Mountains horse packing trip was both fun and challenging, having no experience whatsoever with horse riding.

This horse packing trip in the Rockies was the first of many trips to Canada.
